While serving as the Immediate Past Centennial Chapter President of XI Kappa Zeta in Colorado Springs from 2019 to 2021 the chapter grew to 25 members which included two transfer Sorors, and four Reclaimed Sorors. Two successful membership intakes were held in Spring of 2020 with fours new members, and Spring of 2021 with six new members. During the time of uncertainty in the middle of the CoVID 19 pandemic, Xi Kappa Zeta continued to flourish and held its very first virtual Zoom Centennial Celebration and fundraising event. While making successful strides and efforts to reconnect and render service back to the community.
Before serving as Chapter President, State Director also served as the Chapter Assistant Secretary, and Secretary. She was initiated into Zeta as a member into Delta Alpha Chapter - Undergraduate, Texas College, Tyler, TX. and continued the work in Graduate Chapter, Gamma Kappa Zeta, Texarkana, TX.
State Director Williams is excited to work along side our constitutional bond brother, Mr. Don Cross, of Eta Nu Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, with both being here in Colorado Springs, what a great team to have out front leading our State to successful peaks.

State Director Williams keeps busy and received her Zeta Organizational Leadership training in Knoxville, TN., in 2019; playing in church and ministering through song in Gospel Music; meeting our Grandmother of Juneteenth, Ms. Opal Lee; while serving as local Xi Kappa Zeta President, leading the voting squad to the drop box; installing new chapter officers; volunteering for preparation of the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Walk; Speaking at the Chapter Retreat; Awarding checks to The Soaring Dove Foundation Incorporated scholarship recipients; (3-recipients receiving $1,000 each, and 1-recipient received $2,250); hosting the 2019 COWY State Leadership Conference in Colorado Springs, CO.; taking part in A Good Day of Trouble can good drive with our brothers of local Eta Nu Sigma Chapter, of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, in Colorado Springs, CO., in honor of Frat John Lewis; celebrating at the 2019 Annual Gospel Music Workshop of America, Incorporated musical, winning the community service leadership award and pictured with former Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper; only to list just a few of many community service activities; and, the 2021 Chapter Photo of XI Kappa Zeta Chapter as her two -year tenure, 2019-2021, as president comes to an end, (2nd in from the left), with chapter membership being 17 members strong).
Anitra Matthews became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated on December 4, 1993 through
the Pi Omicron Chapter at Texas A&M University where she was a charter member. She is an international legacy member with three generations of Zeta in the family (mom, herself, and daughter).
Soror Matthews has worked on the State and Local levels; Basileus, 1st Anti-Basileus, 2ndAnti-Basileus, 3rd Anti-Basileus, Tamias, and Antapokritis. She holds certifications for ZOL, Amicae, MIP, Undergraduate and Youth. Her passions are working with the youth; molding the future, as well as membership; bringing new members into our great sorority, and service; giving back to the community.
Soror Matthews was born and raised in Colorado where she now resides with her husband, two daughters, and dog. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University with emphasis in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Finance from the University of Phoenix. She is a part of the National Honors Society in business and currently holds the position of Executive Director of Sales Operations at IHS Markit.
Under Soror Matthews State leadership she was responsible for 4 Chapters, and 1 Amicae Auxiliary. There were a total of 45 graduate members, 4 Amicae, 1 Undergraduate chapter with 4 members, 6 Pearlettes, 5 Amicettes, and 6 Life members

Anitra Matthews
15th State Director for Colorado and Wyoming- 2019-2022
Dr. Detra Duncan - Centennial Life Member, Centennial 14th CO/WY State Director 2018-2019, where she charted two Graduate Chapters (Gamma Alpha Iota Zeta Chapter and Gamma Alpha Theta Zeta Chapter). Under her leadership, the States of Colorado & Wyoming's names were placed on the Sororities Monument at Howard University in 2019.
A proven leader Dr. Duncan serves as an Elected Official as Fountain City Council at Large. The CO/WY State was upgraded to the 21st Century with Memberplanet training at the 2018 State Conference. She was the Election Chair at the 77th Midwestern Regional Conference. She also was the Amicae Workshop Presenter at the 77th Midwestern Regional Conference. She attended the International Executive Board Meeting in January 2019 in Nassau, Bahamas.
While serving as State Director she hosted Zeta Day at the Capitol - Lunch and Learn. She created CO/WY Certification Day where Zetas in Colorado had one location and one day of Zeta Training. She was appointed as the Midwestern Regional Fundraising Committee Chair. Assisted in the revision of the Midwestern Regional Standard Operating Procedures. Partnered with Pikes Peak Diversity Council where Zeta's in Colorado received all proceeds from the sales of concessions and was a sponsor for the event. Most of all she enjoyed serving with the Sorors and creating community in the Colorado and Wyoming States.

Soror Magwood worked tirelessly doing the work of Zeta for our State. From working with and making the events of our Undergraduate chapters, to still managing to fit in her busy schedule the work of Zeta and leading our State. Keeping our State on task with the Membership Intake Process across the State. She also planned and stepped into motion while leading the journey to Centennial with our Passport, the stamp and booklet.
Holding in sight the theme of: "Building
on the Principles of Zeta While Blazing New Paths” This is exactly what Soror Magwood did. Serving under the leadership of International Grand President: Mary Breaux Wright; and Midwestern Regional Director: Samantha Hughes.
Soror Magwood west on to install many of the immediate past State Directors. Giving and sharing leadership character traits and responsibilities that are required to fill the position. Serving the community both external and internal. Soror Magwood work with our friends and still serves as their advisor. We are fortunate to have a great group of women that we enjoy being around and having them with us. Serving our Sorority, this State, and our chapters for now seventy-five years.
Soror Magwood is the very proud grandmother legacy for her granddaughter who is also a collegiate Zeta women with the focus still being on the founding principles of our five triumphant Sorors. That vision for the sorority we all continue to stand on. The ideals of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. Gloria Magwood
13th State Director for Colorado and Wyoming- 2013-2018
Served in leadership and service while holding the title of our Colorado State Director. for six years! From 2006-2012.
Her love for Zeta is shown by the love for our organization as being a Life Member and a Legacy Member.
Honored to hold the title as the 1st Wyoming State Director serving from 2008-2012. Dr. Zoe Grant, also served as Midwestern Regional State Director Chairperson from 2009-2012.
In 2015-2016 Dr.. Grant was the Chapter Basileus, of Zeta, Zeta, Zeta Chapter in Denver, Colorado. Board member from 2015-2016 of Z-Community Foundation 501(c)3.
Xi Kappa Zeta Chapter, Colorado Springs, CO., was fortunate to have Dr. Grant serve as 2006-2007 Chapter Basileus.
Dr. Grant also currently serves as Branch President of the NAACP, Temple Branch, Temple Texas.

Soror Lisa Givens served as State Director during the mid 1990’s before being appointed to state director. She became a Zeta in Beta Delta Chapter on the Campus of Xavier University in the Fall of 1981. She served in various capacities in Zeta Zeta Zeta Chapter, including Basileus for multiple terms. She worked in the telecom industry for 22+ years and started her own personal chef business, Gourmet Away, LLC from 2005-2022 when she retired.

Margaret Neal
7th State Director for Colorado and Wyoming- 1988-1994
Executive Board Chair - 1994-1996
She served as our 12th International Grand Basileus from 1940 to 1948. A period known to this date as "The rapid growth" and she was the force that revived Zeta during her tenure as Grand Basileus.
The grand-daughter of Soror Lullelia W. Harrison is our very own local Soror Margaret Neal of the Zeta Zeta Zeta Chapter.
Margaret Neal served as Basileus of ZZZ chapter from 1995-1996 as the Midwestern Region Representative to the Executive Board from 1994 to 1996, as well as past Colorado State Director from 1988 to 1994.
Margaret Neal's mother, whose name is Margaret Harrison is the 2007 to 2008 Corresponding Secretary for the ZZZ Chapter Amicae. Her mother-in-law Lullelia W. Harrison started the Amicae for her and other ladies like her. Women who desired to support the programs of Zeta.
The history continues with the daughter of Margaret Neal, Franchesca who served in the Zeta Zeta Zeta Chapter Amicette Youth Auxiliary serving the Auxiliary as their Vice-President in the year of 2008.
